Native Birds Challenge!

As part of our learning about Clean Green NZ, we had a fun challenge to match the Maori name with the English name for a list of native birds.
We all were excited when we saw our school bird, the pipiwharauroa on the list! 

What we found out was that some of the birds we know the Maori name for and some we know the English name for. For example: do you know the English name for a tui?
How many native birds do you know both the Maori and English names for?

    What a very cool activity Room 12. I googled the english name for the Tui bird as I had no idea!! Is that what you all did to find out the answer?? Miss Smith
